Marble Mariposa Dress Sample

$328.00

Mariposa is a juxtaposition of classic design played with a playful take on imagination for a new beginning. Mariposa is Tagalog (Philippine language) for Butterfly, the concept of this dress was born out of a trip to the San Juan Islands. In 1908, the marble butterfly was thought to be extinct, but its resurgence in the San Juan Islands intrigued researchers and scientists. The main cause of its first extinction was due to overdevelopment in the region. Field Mustard is the main food source for marble butterflies. It is also the host plant on which female butterflies lay their offspring and larvae eat from the plant as they develop. The Mariposa is not just a gown that represents culture and haute couture, it is a gown that helps us understand that as humans, we have the power to create beauty and make the world a better place.

We encourage you to read more about the Marble Butterfly, which is currently only found in the San Juan Islands of Washington state. We encourage you to think about the beautiful things we value in life and how we can be part of its continued existence in this world.
